Travelling on The Legendary Ghan is truly one of the great train journeys of the world. Take in the sights as they roll past from the comfort of your cabin, or while you’re enjoying a delicious meal in the beautiful Restaurant Car.

Should you be looking for the ultimate in ease and simplicity, you need do little more than board the train, and enjoy the ride, as you watch some of Australia's most magnificent landscapes slip by.

If you’re up for a modest adventure and have a little more time up your sleeve, there’s plenty more to see and do along the way, from the bright city lights at either end of your journey to the never ending natural wonders in between.

Imagine it now: no dangerous roads, no traffic and no busy airports to navigate, just the pure relaxation of travelling by train. While The Ghan itself has all the modern conveniences and comforts you’d expect, it retains the charm of a bygone era, and offers the kind of holiday experience you simply won’t find anywhere else.

There’s no question the Top End is a special part of the world any time of year. But every year, from around November to February, this region
enters into what is known as the ‘Green Season’.

keeps temperatures warm, the landscapes, colours, flora and fauna are completely unique. The scenic surrounds transform as lush green vegetation bursts forth. Lightning storms bring the skies to life in spectacular style. The rivers, creeks and waterfalls all flow freely.

It’s all part of the 'Green Season', your window of opportunity to see the land literally come to life before your eyes.
